Dust Monitoring

Precise, dependable and low-cost real-time and continuous dust monitoring

Sep 08 2022

The new DustScan Cloud is an economical, real-time/continuous dust (PM10, PM2.5 and PM1) monitor designed for industrial use and particularly useful for building sites. This device has extremely low power consumption and is available in a solar power model. DustScan Cloud provides a highly user-friendly solution for organisations who require a dependable, precise low-maintenance and energy-efficient air quality monitor.

This compact device was specifically designed to meet the requirements for fence-line monitoring as stipulated in the Greater London Authority’s Supplementary Planning Guidance ‘The Control of Dust and Emissions During Construction and Demolition’, the IAQM (Institute of Air Quality Management) ‘Guidance on Monitoring in the Vicinity of Demolition and Construction Sites’, and the HS2 Code of Construction Practice.

DustScanAQ developed the DustScan Cloud based on South Coast Science’s Praxis/Cube device for urban air quality monitoring. DustScanAQ, unlike most other air quality instrumentation providers, is also an air quality consultancy that offers comprehensive support packages for their customers. This includes source apportionment, data interpretation, presentation, reporting and assessment and modelling services. This holistic approach to monitoring air quality monitoring truly makes the DustScan Cloud stand out – operators get to benefit from the use of a low-cost, low-maintenance, low-power device to gain up-to-date dust monitoring data, while receiving the expert support required to comprehend and react upon the information generated by the instrument.

Oliver Puddle: Technical Director of DustScanAQ commented “One of our core values at DustScanAQ is to continually innovate in the dust and air quality market, and we believe the DustScan Cloud will transform the PM monitoring experience and value for our clients, especially as we are able to provide continuing support and expert air quality advice that is not offered by most monitor suppliers.

“We are also developing source apportionment capabilities using the DustScan Cloud, encouraging both site operators and regulators to move away from a tick-box mentality and help them better understand the potential sources of particulate matter on and around sites.”
