Wastewater Analysis
A cost effective and reliable solution to low concentration mercury and arsenic analysis in petrochemical waste streams
Nov 19 2019
The presence of mercury (Hg) and arsenic (As) in petrochemical waste streams is under increasing scrutiny and, in most parts of the world, discharge regulations require monitoring and reporting protocols to ensure company compliance in line with environmental guidelines.
Analytically, the determination of ultraâ€Âlow concentrations of these 2 elements is not easily achieved. Instruments based on electrochemical detection often suffer from sample fouling problems and other interferences. In addition, the traditional flowâ€Âthrough systems consume relatively large volumes of reagents, especially when operated on a 24/7 basis.
With these issues in mind PS Analytical has developed and released a new onâ€Âline analyser (10.226). The system uses much lower volumes of reagents (<5ml per sample) whilst still having unprecedented analytical performance based upon PS Analytical’s world class atomic fluorescence detection systems. The new analyser also includes gas saver options, automatic calibration, wide linear working ranges, up to 10 sample streams and grab sample features This instrument performs 20 minute measurement cycles and reaches sub ppb limits of detection.
PSA have analysers to suit all aspects of the monitoring and analysis of Hg, including laboratory instruments and onâ€Âline analysers for gases and liquids. By employing atomic fluorescence spectroscopy as the means of detection the PSA analysers provide unsurpassed detection performance. With literally thousands of systems in the field today and a global support network PSA offers a great package of performance, reliability and support.
