Sewage Monitoring
Level transmitter for reliable disposal of sewage sludge
Jan 24 2019
Municipal departments dealing with civil engineering and environmental issues find it particularly important to transport accumulated sewage sludge to waste incineration plants with minimal water content. The first step in the upstream sludge conditioning process is to improve the consistency of the sludge. The processes, often based on organic flocculants, are accompanied by intensive foaming. Moreover, they usually take place in deep, narrow wells and are hardly visible because filling streams stir up the surface.
For VEGA’s radar level transmitter VEGAPULS WL S 61, those operating conditions pose no great challenge. The sensor is protected by a flood-proof IP 68 housing. Thanks to its excellent signal focusing, it measures right past obstructions. Foam formation and turbulent surfaces have no effect on an accurate level the measurement.
